St George's Day was blessed with a fine and sunny day. The parade led by the band, marched from the Market Place, Thirsk, to St Mary's Church with Nick and Dave keeping everone in step.
In the church, with the flags in place, Alison led a very good service. We were not joined by the Guides this year due to other commitments but we still had a full church with a good number of parents and friends, all in good voice! The Mayor of Thirsk, Derek Adamson, Vale of Mowbray District Scout Council President, Gerald Turton and Chairman of Sowerby Parish Council and NYCS Rep Peter Bardon joined us in the service.
After the service, the parade marched to the fire station where the salute was taken by the Mayor, Vale of Mowbray President, Vale of Mowbray Chairman and ADC Special Duties.
