Cubs Visit Whitby and Sleep-over at Sowerby Scout Hut |
On the 6th November 2004 1st Sowerby and 1st Topliffe Cubs were joined by 1st Thirsk Cubs on there trip to Whitby.
Travelling by coach we arrived at 11.30am and decided to have
lunch, after lunch we stepped aboard the Grand Turk sailing ship. We quickly
found ourselves as the new ship's crew, learning what it was like to sail the
high seas about 150 years ago. After this very enjoyable time onboard we then
started a treasure hunt around Whitby taking in all the sites along the way.
We also had a ride on a vintage bus, looked round the RNLI museum and visited
the Dracula Experience. The day in Whitby was finished with an excellent meal
before starting our return journey. Arriving back at Sowerby we played games,
had supper and not to quickly settled down to sleep. The next morning we had
breakfast and once again played some games before our parents collect us. Upon
leaving it was said that the leaders could be seen cheering, I wonder why!
